On the positive side I started my second week of fitness with a 30 minute treadmill session using a new Nike+ workout: Master the Treadmill with OK Go! This is a mix of speed intervals but no inclines so it was relatively easy on my legs although it did give me a good session. I'm enjoying having these treadmill workouts on my iPod, it breaks the monotony and also keeps me going. If I was running for 30 minutes straight I'd give up but these do seem to work a bit like the carrot and the stick method. So at the end of Monday, I am 3.8km on the way to this week's total. I'm not sure whether I'll do my planned couch to 5km tomorrow as it all depends on the weather, I'm OK with running in the cold but if it's too icy then I won;t risk it and I'll do a gym session instead. I'm not going to let the weather knock me off track in my quest for fitness but I'm not going to risk slipping on an icy patch before I get to go away either.
