This is a blog about snowboarding on plastic snow, indoor snow and sometimes even real snow on real mountains. There'll also be other mutterings about the things I come across in my day to day life

Couch to 5km - Week 1 Run 2

I'm not one for going out and celebrating New Year's Eve, we don't really go out drinking anyway, so it seems silly to go out and pay even more than usual for the privilege. Instead I stayed at home, played Spore on the brilliant iPod Touch that Jools got me for Christmas and drank a couple of cans of Guinness in the comfort of our own home. I then went to bed about 23:30, so much for staying up to see in the New Year.

On the positive side though it did mean that I woke up at a reasonable time this morning, with out a hangover and managed to convince myself that I did want to get out of my warm bed and go for run 2 of the Couch to 5km programme I'm following.

This is a repeat of the run I did 2 days ago, and I'll do it again on Saturday. I still found myself getting stitch at the end of the 6th rep of 60 second running but ignored the proximity of the house to my location and battled on! The result, I covered an extra 300m than last time. The Nike+ sensor is still lagging behind, but as I can use the Nokia Sports Tracker for accurate distance on the road I'll leave the Nike+ calibrated for the tread mill for any runs I do at the gym.

Good for you for getting started..
I'm off booze for january and hoping to run more, though bloody cold at the moment. I've set myself mileage and frequency resolutions using the nike + page - we'll have to see how I get on.

Excellent! I'm not off booze, I'm using Guinness instead of iron supplements ;o)
Hope you keep to the resolutions, although you're right about the cold, it has been a struggle forcing myself out of the door. It does get warmer once you get going though!
